Professionally

I'm currently employed as an Information Systems Manager for the Department of Politics and International Relations, part of the University of Oxford. The short job description is "in charge of IT and web", but it's inevitably more complicated than that. I manage a small team who look after the IT and web needs of hundreds of administrators, academics and students. It's a job with the usual collection of challenges and opportunities, plus a few of the less common issues that occur in an academic environment.

The position carries line management responsibility for 3 members of staff and I have supplemented this practical experience with further reading of contemporary management texts. I also make a point of further reading related to website design and usability.

I am a member of the British Computer Society.

Personally

When my work life allows me the time, I'm a keen digital photographer, which compliments the day trips and country walks my partner and I enjoy.

Web design started for me as a hobby long before it became a vocation and I try to keep my personal online presence up to date and interesting.
